About Me

Paul Cochrane

I’m a Sydney-based media professional with extensive international mainstream media and corporate communications experience. I love my sport, the daily news cycle and having a laugh. I’m passionate about strong and creative story-telling and using contemporary and evolving platforms to showcase them. The media has moved and changed direction at an incredible pace over the past 20 years and I’ve been sure to embrace it and track at the same rate.

Media Career – Phase 1

I grew up in Central Queensland and after graduating from University I stayed in the region through the early part of my career with reporting roles for the local newspaper and Channel 7 in Bundaberg. I headed to England for a couple of years to play cricket and returned home to a job in the newsroom at Channel 9 in Perth. After a year in Western Australia I landed a dream gig covering the national cricket and swimming teams, the NRL and AFL and whatever else the news cycle and the imagination allowed for Channel 10’s Sports Tonight in Sydney. I left TEN in late 2012 and took on some casual roles at Channel 7’s Sunrise and Fox Sports News. Great job. Good times. Wonderful memories!

Media Career – Phase 2

These days I head up the media and marketing responsibility for Harness Racing NSW. It’s been incredibly rewarding and we’ve managed to implement some great initiatives that have given further prominence for the brand and our participants. It’s just a start with some really cool stuff on the horizon! Since leaving the mainstream media I’ve headed up the media and communications function for some high-level organisations such as the National Basketball League (NBL), Surf Life Saving Australia, the Indian Premier League (IPL) and Champions League (CLT20) T20 tournaments in India and sports equipment brand Spartan Sports. I also got the chance to take on a media manager role on the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games!
